International Folk Music Awards: 2019 Best Of Nominees Announced

Happy new year! It’s time to reflect on the songs and musicians that left a big impression on the folk community in 2019. Our Best Of this year includes a folk trio who started attending FAI when they were just beginning to get their music out in the world, an Argentinian-American string band, a collaboration bringing awareness to African American banjo traditions, and more.

The 2020 International Folk Music Awards’ Best Of categories include 2019 Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. The finalists were compiled through a review process of over 20 year-end charts, publications, lists, and awards rosters in the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia, including the NACC Folk and FAI Folk Charts.

The winners will be announced at this year’s International Folk Music Awards on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Also presented at the IFMAs are FAI’s Lifetime Achievement, Spirit of Folk, Clearwater, and People’s Voice awards, as well as inductions into the Folk DJ Hall of Fame. Learn more about all of the award recipients here.

Voting is open to FAI members from January 2, 2020, to January 9, 2020.
